David A. Dunlap has over 30 years as an entrepreneur and business development specialist conceptualizing, launching and growing international companies as both a principal and adviser. During this same period he has also established a number of private equity funds again either as principal or in an advisory capacity. This wealth of experience has given David a special expertise in the analysis of business models, value supply chains, risk management, executive team formation and an understanding of critical macro and micro failure points for early stage companies, which has proven invaluable to his clients over the years.
In 1995, David founded Impact Capital as a spinoff from PVH Fund Managers Limited, an offshore fund focused on micro and small cap Regulation S investment transactions in the U.S. www.ImpactCapital.com Initially forming Impact Capital as a P.I.P.E. (Private Investment in Public Entities) company, David led Impact Capital's foray into the private equity sector of investment banking and strategic advisory services for early and mid stage technology companies. He remains active today at Impact Capital as its President.
David’s specialization in the energy sector started in the upstream and downstream sectors of the oil and gas industry. His involvement in this sector culminated in 2005 when he co-founded Proteus Energy Corporation (www.ProteusEnergy.com), an independent oil & gas producer focusing on the application of cutting-edge, environmentally-sound technologies and their application in improving reserves and production of marginal or shut-in oil fields in the US Southwest. With the world turning to renewable energy, it was an entirely natural progression for David, when stepping out of management at Proteus, to launch Green Ventures International Limited, a hydroelectric project developer with 2.5 GigaWatts of potential licenses in Nepal. Green Ventures is currently constructing its first 120 MW Likhu-IV “run of river” plant which will be operational by the end of 2011. In parallel, in 2007, he established Green Ventures’ first, fully integrated carbon fund and trading company in London and Mumbai (www.GreenVenturesInternational.com).
As a result of the long gestation period for hydroelectric projects, David made a decision to be pro-active in other renewable energy sectors as well and launched CO2e Capital Limited, as a boutique merchant banking group specializing in renewable energy (hydro, wind, solar and geothermal) as well as
leading edge clean technologies (www.CO2eCapital.com). Under David’s guidance, CO2e Capital entered the Italian solar energy market and along with Italian partners launched SolarOnergy, SpA, (www.SolarOnergy.it), as a solar photovoltaic project developer and Engineering, Procurement & Construction company (EPC), based in Milan, Italy where he is Director of Business Development & Strategic Advisor.
David Dunlap attended Georgetown University's undergraduate program at the School of Foreign Service and College of Arts and Sciences, then continued graduate level studies, at the American University (Washington, D.C.) in Interdisciplinary Studies in Media (Press, Radio, TV and Films).
